South Shore
Flanked by 2 expansive parks, including the Lake Michigan shore, this Chicago neighborhood is rife with wonder. Towering single family homes, brick multi-family buildings and mid-century mid-rises line the streets, as the railway and Lake Shore Drive form the community arteries.
Food, music, and fashion are found throughout the South Shore neighborhoods. The ground-level Metra Electric provides a unique transportation option making the neighborhood super accessible; four beaches along the lakefront offer recreational space; and the still-very-posh cultural center is the epicenter of art and music in the community.
Nearby Jackson Park was home to the 1893 Columbian Exhibition, making post-fire Chicago a special place on the map. Beautiful, rich homes and an exclusive country club were built. Eventually, that gave way to a much more community minded population- invested in the community with arts, music, philanthropic work and a general sense of fun.
