River North
River North is quickly becoming the new downtown- a mix of residents, businesses, and visitors to the great Windy City. The buzzing nightlife mixes with the office headquarters of well known companies, and tourists mingle with residents as they take advantage of Chicago’s amenities.
Just north of Chicago’s Loop, River North is a perfect spot for those who don’t want a long commute if they work downtown. It is near almost every train line on the CTA, with the exception of the Yellow Line. The buildings are mostly skyscrapers equipped with condos and offices, but there are impressive homes found closer to the lake.
In Chicago’s infancy, River North’s location made it an ideal industrial district. Railroads, warehouses, and shipping vessels all crowded the area. That is a whisper of history now, as gorgeous architecture, and inventive pedestrian promenades make up the uniqueness of RIver North.
