South Loop
Just south of downtown’s towering el lines, is the South Loop- a unique mix of urban skyscrapers, repurposed industrial warehouses, and fantastically opulent mansions from a bygone era. Every turn of the corner provides a new perspective of Chicago’s history, wrapped up into one little area.
With Columbia College, Roosevelt University, and IIT, the neighborhood feels fresh without being a full-on college town. Communities of single-family homes, high-rise condos, and lofts make the background unique, while also allowing for all the comforts of work, play, and a lot of culture.
Originally one of Chicago’s first residential areas, the Great Fire razed the homes to create an area of industrial revolution, becoming home to the country’s printing industry. With time, it has transformed itself into a modern township, becoming home to many city-dwellers who thrive on the unique architecture, music culture, and community of the South Loop.
