Streeterville
Between the Gold Coast and River North lies Streeterville, a bit of Chicago that has its share of luxury, art, and history. Don’t let the skyscrapers fool you- there are some lovely green spaces, residential gems, and beautiful Lake Michigan to get you feeling right at home.
From the ritzy Magnificent Mile to the historical monolith of the Chicago Watertower, Streeterville is a mix of new and old. Towering modern condo buildings and mixed use complexes comprise most of this neighborhood, but there are a smattering of historic smaller multi-family buildings in the residential areas.
Streeterville got its name after a notorious lake captain, George Streeter, washed ashore after a stormy night. He claimed the land as his own and started a red-light district. Since, Streeterville has classed up quite a bit with luxury living, but the story sure is fun!
